Bring your creativity!
Movement of course is practical. There are so many things that we need to do in our activities of daily life that require movement. But a movement class should be fun. No-one would ever return if the class consisted of walking from one side of the room to the other for the whole time, even though walking is probably the movement repetition that we perform the most in our lives.
Enter creativity. You may not consider your self to be creative, but we all are. Many people just stop using that creativity sometime past childhood. This should not be confused with talent or skill level, that kind of judgement stops us from exploring our creativity. Perfectionism will kill it.
Creativity can be so energising. In our classes we are all exploring our own movement potential through creative curiosity. Maybe you have never thought about that before?
Of course, through these movement explorations comes strength, flexibility and all the things that we know are important for our health and well -being. But I believe that to keep you coming back, you will need to find movement a joy.
Our agreement to meet each week is an appointment for us to show up and collaborate. This collective experience develops a community and spurs each of us on. It’s a space without distraction. The familiarity encourages us to overcome our fears and inhibitions. We are moving individually but together, creating an energy that flows between us.
Moving purely for joy is emotional balm for our wellbeing. If you arrive to class with an open mind and heart, you will allow new movement possibilities. You might move slightly out of your comfort zone. Out of the familiar and the repetitious movements of your day to day life. With that comes a sense of achievement and new possibilities. You will build your resilience and open up more movement choices. Be curious about your potential.
That inhalation of breath you take is inspiration and inspiration is the initiation of creativity
