Wear and Tear

Have you been to a health practitioner and been told you have wear and tear? Read on for some thoughts on wear and tear and the life of a bunny……

I came across bunny this morning when the house became still again after the morning rush. Wow bunny, I thought, you look KNACKERED!

Ten years of fierce love have been poured into this bunny. He has been well and truly churned and turned in the hurley burley of life. He has been around since day one. He has been there through various illnesses, absorbed tears of sadness and been tossed and flung in wild abandon. He has been the butt of both anger and hilarity. He has fought off valiantly the fears that came in the darkness. He has waited faithfully when the house was empty and he was too embarrassing to be included, then accepted all cuddles without resentment when it was full again. He has roll played in tiny hands, been everything he was required to be in imaginative moments. He has soaked up all the emotions of life. Now, it’s true, his joints show signs of wear and tear.

But, as he lies, clearly exhausted, but full of all the love of a little boy, would he change a thing if he was able? I don’t suppose he would. Because you see, there are some toys in our house that show little sign of wear and tear, but their stories are far less interesting and special.

DISCLAIMER: If you feel that your arms are actually about to fall off, you should definitely seek medical advice!!

Just in case you didn’t get the moral of this story, it’s that wear and tear is a natural process and the sign of a life well lived. Just like all the crinkles around our eyes from all the laughter at all the happy moments you’ve shared. Keep moving, stay strong and enjoy!
